Chen Fa

Chen Fa

Ph.D. Researcher

Chen is a Ph.D. researcher in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Maine. Her research interests lie in numerical simulation of estuarine hydrodynamics and coastal flood risk management. She is also interested in the interdisciplinary application of data-driven methods to improve the understanding and prediction of complex coastal processes under changing climate conditions. Prior to joining the Future Coasts Lab, Chen worked as a hydraulic engineer in China, where she gained practical experience in flood control analysis and design. This professional experience motivates her research focus on developing science-based solutions for coastal flood mitigation and resilience. Chen holds a Master’s degree in Coastal Engineering from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Irrigation and Drainage from China Agricultural University.
